In Tunica, Mississippi there’s about 15 players who come out late at night and circle between the Horseshoe Casino, Goldstrike Casino and The Grand Casino playing mini-baccarat. They may not realize it but they have become the talk of the town whenever the casino game is mentioned. Many of these players have been playing for years together and three or four of them just play when they are in town. One thing is for certain, they are quite diverse in their play bingo and very fun to watch.
There is one gentleman that I’m told spends a great deal of time living in Tunica between the casinos and I must say when he approaches the baccarat table, I’ve never seen anything like it. Either he’s on or he’s off and it doesn’t take long to figure it out. If he is playing and winning, just follow him and you’ll likely experience the run of your life, and if he’s off, just bet the opposite and you’ll still experience a pretty good run before he becomes frustrated and leaves. What’s interesting about this guy is that he is always at the Horseshoe and very intimidating yet he is very nice once you get to know him and he realizes people have this sort of reaction to him at the table and is very amused by it.
A lady from Arkansas by the name of Van is also part of the very elite group of Tunica baccarat players. She taught me how to keep my score card for maximum benefit and I’ve enjoyed playing baccarat even more ever since. She normally stays for a couple of weeks at a time and everyone is glad to see her when she rolls into town.
Mike is one of my favorite baccarat players. He plays primarily between the Horseshoe and the Gold Strike and keeps up with his score card with a lot of study and thought before making his move. He’s one of the best in the group and I love to play baccarat beside him so that I can see his card and try to figure out what it is that he sees.
Several of the regular players such as Mr. Zu will play UK bingo based on who is at the table and also based on the dealers. I suppose I do the same thing too when I’m playing baccarat. Since the Horseshoe and the Gold Strike are located right next door to one another, its easy to float between the casinos until you find your hot table if there’s one to be found on that particular day. I stick with the Horseshoe on first shift and then move to the Gold Strike for second shift and then the Grand or the Horseshoe if I play at all on third shift. Many of the better baccarat players start playing well after one in the morning and they can help you tremendously if you will just sit back and watch as they chart their patterns and follow runs.
Even though I call these baccarat players the ‘elite’ players, they come from all walks of life and most of them, with the exception of the few out of town players, will play at least 5 days a week. They are very diverse in their backgrounds yet they are succeeding in their gaming choice of baccarat. Most of these players only play baccarat and when you inquire about the reasons for their game choice, you will pretty much get the same answer which is, “it’s the only or one of the only games that you can consistently beat with a little bit of patience and a great money management system.”
